Our goal is to help you, regardless of whether you are looking for your first job, have recently become a job seeker, have been out of work for a while, or want to take the next step from your current employment.
We work directly with employers in both the private and public sector. Our method focuses on finding, developing and creating the conditions for a lasting relationship between you and your future employer.
When you visit us for the first time you are probably an unknown quantity. That is why we begin our first meeting by getting to know you, understanding who you are and familiarising ourselves with your circumstances, goals and possibilities.
We work directly with employers in both the private and public sector to create meaningful and lasting matches. Our work is about finding, developing and creating the conditions for a long and successful relationship between you and your future employer.
One part of the equation is our knowledge and our contacts in working life. The other part is you — your experience, skills and ambitions. Our job is to identify the points where an employer's needs meet what you have to offer.
We ask questions such as: What is your background? What have you worked on before? But we also ask: What do you like to do? What is important to you? The goal is a complete picture of who you are today and who you want to become in the future.
If you need more work experience, we help you find jobs that act as a springboard. If you lack the right qualifications, we work with our study guidance counsellors. We see it as our vision not just to match you with a job, but to help you shape your future.
03 · Our story
The principle
There is a truth about people that we have seen confirmed thousands of times, in several countries and in several languages: getting back up is not a trait. It is a habit.
No one is born with it, and no one loses it. It is trained – one step at a time, often in terrain you did not choose yourself.
Trim tab has its roots in a tradition of moving lightly, acting with precision and never mistaking retreat for defeat. That outlook has followed us through several countries, several languages and losses that took almost everything – but not the ability to get back up. Yet the most important lesson we learned here in Sweden, over the years and in our meetings with people:
The terrain belongs to no one in particular. It belongs to all of us.
The terrain
It belongs to the person who has left their country. It belongs just as much to the person who has left an industry after twenty years at the same workplace and suddenly wonders what he is worth. It belongs to the nineteen-year-old who has not yet had a first chance – and to the fifty-eight-year-old who has been told the chances are over. It belongs to the person who fell ill and comes back to a world that has moved on.
The ground looks different. But the step is the same. And it is always the first step that is hardest to see.
This is our decisive insight: it is rarely a way forward that is missing. There are paths everywhere. What is missing is clarity about the first step – and someone who sees the person as they take it.
The tools
Trim tab was not built from an idea. It was built with tools we already had in our hands.
The 7 Habits – not just as a book, but as a way of life we have followed for decades and teach to those who will in turn teach others. Lean – measuring, improving and measuring again, and never settling for what does not work. NLP – understanding what drives people, what helps them get back up and find a new direction.
We train coaches in this. The methods are part of who we are and shape the way we work.
When we sat down opposite our first participant – a person who knew a great deal, but whose knowledge no one asked for any more – we knew what we were looking at. Not a case, but a person who needed to find their first step. And we knew how to find it, because we had done it ourselves. Many times.
The name
On a ship's large rudder sits a smaller rudder. It is called a trim tab. With very little force, it helps the whole ship change course.
That is exactly how it had happened for us – and for every person we had seen get back up. Big change begins with the small, right move at the right moment.
The journey
There were two of us who started Trim tab in 2019. We had different backgrounds, but the same question: why are so many people left on the outside when they have so much to contribute?
We started in Stockholm and went on to Karlstad, Gävle, Borås, Malmö and Gothenburg. We developed our own tools, because the structure needs to be there every morning – also between our meetings. We measured, redid and measured again. Not because we are kinder than others, but because we are harder on ourselves.
In 2025, one of the founders moved on. We parted with a handshake that meant something. What we had built with two pairs of hands, we carried forward, looking ahead.
Today, Trim tab's second generation stands here – the AI generation – together with a team that shares our conviction. Several of us have stood on new ground ourselves. That is why we are here.
The habits
Trim tab is not a company that uses a method. It is a way of life that happens to have a company registration number. Three habits carry everything else:
Be proactive.
You cannot change what has happened, but you can influence the next step. Between what happens to us and how we choose to act, there is a space. That is where our freedom lies.
Begin with the end in mind.
Before we open a single door, we ask: where do you really want to go? Not just where you think you are allowed to go, but where you want to go. Everything is created twice – first in the mind, then in action. We help you shape that first picture, so that the next step becomes possible.
Seek first to understand.
We listen before we plan. Every person is unique, and no one fits entirely into a ready-made template. That is the one thing we are completely sure of.
Forward
This way of working reaches beyond the labour market. Now we are taking it to new countries and new areas where people need the same thing: someone who sees them, a structure that holds and a first step they can take. More on that soon.
